Mixing music in the studio is like putting together a puzzle where each piece is a different sound or instrument. The goal is to make all the pieces fit together nicely so that the whole picture (the song) looks and sounds the best it possibly can.
The end goal is to create a song where all the elements work together, making it enjoyable to listen to.
Mastering on the other hand is like the final polish, it makes sure everything sounds as good as possible and is ready for the world. mastering is making sure it’s ready to be released. It ensures the song sounds great on all speakers, phones, headphones, car stereos and big club systems.
